Hi all, just after a bit of knowledge from anyone in the know!
I am about to buy my first property (yipee!) which is a small end terrace in need of lots of work/upgrade etc. Anyway there is no central heating system installed and I have been told about government schemes available which aim to help insulate homes/install central heating in properties which have not had it before HOWEVER from what I have read online, it seems you’re only eligible if on certain benefits. As a single person working full time and not on any benefits I obviously wouldn’t be entitled so my question is…..does anyone know of any schemes or anything at all which would benefit someone like me (a single person working full time buying first property) to help with reno. Just seems crap there is no help from what I can see (without sounding grabby or entitled 😭)

Following as in similar situation.

You might still qualify for the "boiler upgrade scheme" but only if the house is already fully insulated and various other criteria met, and I think they are mostly supplying biomass boilers.

The old scheme closed, I think. It progressively restricted eligibility anyway.

Honestly, though, I'd be pricing it up as a job you might well need to pay for.

Oh I have definitely factored it in as something I will have to pay for! Work is starting soon hopefully so thought I would ask and see if there was anything out there I could be entitled to before work commences!
