My mind is a whirl with the pros and cons of these. We will be getting a light colour so stain-proof (wine, tea/coffee, turmeric, tomato), minimal-to-no maintenance required, heat-proof, robust.
Is Dekton the one that fits the bill?

Dekton works for us. We wanted a fairly pale colour (the finish called "Blanc Concrete"). It's two years old now, looks good as new, and barring some extreme incident involving dropping a very heavy object from height, it should remain good for the foreseeable future.

Ours was fitted by Natural Stone Surfaces Ltd as a subcontractor for DIY Kitchens. Not sure if they're the people they'd always use, but we aren't anywhere near where they're based in Derbyshire so it doesn't seem to be a regional thing.

Thank you @CasperGutman - were you happy with the fitters?

2 years with ours and still love it. Had the marble effect white one can’t remember name but is very easy, no stains can abuse it and baring what Caspar said about dropping or hitting an edge very robust. Perfect for me and my sloppy ways.

Yes; couldn't fault them.

Also look at Neolith. Same thing different brand and I preferred designs. It’s ace!

We got quartz and it has stained so so easily. Don’t recommend. Also don’t recommend Gemini worktops either despite them being really favoured on here.

@mosiacmaker thanks for sharing, that’s really useful to know

How does it work? Do you buy the tops and then get a fitter? Does the shop organise it for you? I just want to replace worktops

We have it in this shade:

Never had any issue with staining - cleans perfectly, which you’d expect as it is basically just a giant ceramic tile.

Installed by https://sussexstoneworks.co.uk/ who did a great job.

I think there are fitters associated with the company and they template the work top, it is then cut to size and fitted - that’s my rudimentary understanding. Some fitters are in-house and others are brought in by the company. I would have thought in-house is better and the shop/company selling the worktop will be more invested in ensuring a good service throughout the process.

😬

We've just bought a new build and was told the quartz won't stain as long as you don't leave it a few days - like a bottle of red wine that leaves a ring....

We have polished granite (ours is 'galaxy' so black with sparkly bits in it) in the kitchen which has now been here 17 years without issue. In utility we have a pale grey polished granite which also looks fab still.
