Plumbing help!!

I was feeling proud of myself replacing a broken bottom entry fill valve.
The new one seems too short, and won't quite reach the water inlet.

Do they come in different sizes, do I need a different squishy ring to allow more length free?

Anyone know?

Theyre a standard length but the new one has a very deep washer which will hold the valve a little higher and away from the tap connector.

You could try removing the washer from the old valve and fitting it to the new valve. It may just give you the bit extra you need.

You may also need to replace the fibre washer in the connector as they don't always reseal but give it a go first it may work.

Thanks Moosey. Rather than risk a leak I think I'll go to screwfix for some washers!

The old one is pretty stiff.

It's really good to know I've not missed a measurement mistake opportunity though! Just an oversized washer.

Which I may try cutting down, actually. 🤔
