Flat Valuation?

Hi experienced mums,

We've got an option to add valuation to Home Survey Level 2. I know that the bank will have its own valuation. Would it matter if we had one done as well?
Just thinking if it's worth the extra cost.

By the way, I am purchasing a freehold flat instead of a house, if that is relevant.

Generally you would only request an additional valuation with your Home Survey if your lender had down-valued the property in their own valuation survey (and therefore wouldn’t lend you what you needed) and you were aiming to challenge their valuation to achieve higher borrowing. Unless this has happened, there’s no particular benefit to having a second valuation.
