Renting in London

Hi all. My neice is living with friends in London but from August needs to find somewhere to live on her own. She can't afford to buy.....and is paying around £900.00 per calendar month in rent now. Living in the Lambeth area. How easy will it be , do you think, to find a one bed flat for around £1K pcm? In and around Lambeth?

honestly… ridiculous though it is it will be a house share for that sort of money. Maybe a small studio?

Impossible for a one bed, would need to be a flat share - potentially a very, very small studio but even that seems unlikely...

One bedroom flat ? Impossible

LIZS · 23/05/2023 15:39

Very unlikely, she needs to look further put but then have commuting costs , or consider a houseshare.

It's so difficult isn't it? And so blinking expensive

Highly unlikely unless it has major issues

Does she need to be quite as central? The reality is the way most people in average (or even high!) incomes in London have to live out in the ‘burbs and commute in. There are places out in zone 3 or 4 where a small studio could be had for around £1k a month. Which areas / stations does she really need good access to?

Nice one bed room flats in our (not posh) part of Lambeth are over £1700. She needs to explore a house share.

She could get a decent room in a house share for that money, but won’t find a one bed flat. Factor in soley paying for all the bills and it would be close to £2k pcm for a flat.
