Forked Chain - Experiences

Has anyone been in a forked chain before?

We’ve had an offer on our house but it’s one half of a divorcing couple. So there’s a chain of three including them their side plus them both buying on. One half potentially our house and the other another house. We haven’t managed to find out the details of wether the other person is also in a chain their side.

We had a chain break up last year and that was only a chain of two. As the first time buyer couldn’t secure a mortgage and then our buyers couldn’t resell their house.

We’ve since been up for 3 weeks so not ages and have had interest but no one seems in great positions.

Would we be mad to go for this? I think the potential buyer is very interested but the chain scares me. Especially as it means realistically we need to either break the chain by moving out to a less than ideal rental or buy a chain free property. We’re going to look so undesirable to buyers unless we move out aren’t we?

I mean we’ll look undesirable as potential buyers unless we break the chain and move out first.

I think you need to find out about the other half of the divorcing couple. If it's just someone going to live with their parents or rent it'd be ok, it's just if they are actually wanting to buy as well?

I know they’re buying and have found somewhere. I just don’t know if there’s a chain above that. But yes I’ll try to ask about it. Thanks
