Hi all,

Long time poster, changed name in case my other posts are outing.

I am buying my first home and the completion date is tomorrow, as I am a first time buyer is there anything that can go wrong on completion day, any tips for moving or any advice, will I get a call or do I call the solicitor office?

I don't have anyone in real life to ask for guidance and information.
Thanks for reading x

@thoughtsofmoog3 congratulations 🎊 its a nervous time isn't it. I have been editing almost one year for completion so complicated 😫 I also wanted to get my conveyancer a gift for being so patient....any suggestions x

How exciting, congratulations on your purchase!
We moved recently and firstly our solicitor called us to say they had received the funds for our house so it was sold. She then called me back to confirm the funds had been sent for our purchase.
I then just had to wait for a call from the estate agent of the place that we bought - they needed to know that all the funds were in place before they gave the keys to us.
We sold the a FTB and so were second in the chain, and we were in the new place by about 12:30pm.

So really, all you need to do as a FTB is wait for a call and then go and get those keys!

Good luck!

I've bought eight houses and completion has gone very smoothly on every occasion. You normally get a call to tell you when to get the keys and this is usually around lunchtime. It's all an admin thing really I think and then you'll be in your new home. I hope it's a very happy one for you.
