New drainage and manhole covers

I'm having the above installed on my property. I'm trying to keep an eye on things so I can inform them of anything I'm not happy about early on. Up until now everything has been ok.

I've just been out and looked at one of the manhole covers (they're circular black hard plastic) that they're going to be installing on Monday. It's currently sitting on a pile of mud just above the manhole. This is a photo of it.

It's clearly damaged, isn't it? Would you be happy for them to go ahead and install it or would you say you want it replaced?

Second thing is the new gullies that have been installed down the side of the house. I've been running a few taps to see which pipe is going into which gully. I've attached a photo of one of the gullies (first gully you can see on left hand side) which has the white waste pipe from the bath and basin going into it.

I've noticed that the pipe is quite close to the edge of the gully (not sure why it isn't more centrally located in the gully) and when water comes out it splashes over the sides and front of the gully (you can see the soil in front of the gully is wet). Would it be a big job for them to change the position of that pipe?

Normally when something goes wrong when I have work done I don't have the guts to say anything.

Reject the manhole cover.

C4atastrophe Thank you, will do.

Reject the manhole cover, and get them to change the white pipe so it doesn't discharge over the edge of the grill. It will wear away whatever surrounds the grill when it's finished, and will annoy you forever.

HappyAsASandboy I'm quite surprised they did it the way they have done because I'd had a bad damp problem inside the house along that wall and I stressed to them how important it was to me that things were done properly so I had no further problems in future.

The manhole cover needs changing. Just cut a hole in the gully cover and add a piece of pipe so the water goes right into the drain so you get no splashing.

Diyextension Thank you.

Why is this pipe so far from the wall? It looks like you’d have to walk around it, rather than past it.
