Costing survey for renovations

I need to get a proper costing survey for my house- I inherited my late fathers house and it's a state! It's a grade 2 listed building and it in a really bad state of repair.
We had a survey done a couple of years ago for a probate valuation but nothing since.
We really need help with a decent survey to give us an idea of a total renovation cost as it's going to need pretty much everything from a complete rewire to a redo of the roof.
It's a really tough decision as my heart wants to renovate and move in and my head says run for the hills it's a money pit.
A decent survey and then quotes from builders will give me a much better idea of where we stand but I've no idea on where to start. It's a minefield- any suggestions on what sort of survey I need?

YUou need a survey from someone who specialised in listed buildings. They are often able to estimates of costs as well. After that you can get quotes from a building firm but without knowing what the conservation officers are going to insist on it will be a bit of a guessing game
