Can't settle in new/modern buildings?

Does anyone else have a strange preference for living in old buildings?
For some reason, I can't seem to settle in a new or modern building.

I've lived in 16th century, 18th century, 19th century, 1960s, 1970s, 2000s houses/flats. For some reason I only ever really feel 'settled' when living in old buildings. My favourite being a late regency flat with gorgeous high ceilings, cornicing, mahogany doors etc. Even when I lived in the Caribbean, I somehow managed to seek out the oldest house in the town.

Whilst I've lived in some quite high end modernist buildings, they never feel homely. Even if they are by far the most practical, warm, dry, easy to heat.

Yes, agreed

Of course. Because they are quite soulless, usually plasticky and tasteless (not the decor but the architecture)
