My shower has clogged up with what looks to be feaces. I am so grossed out I have only been here a week and this is my first time living alone so i’ve never had to call a plumber before. Can I please ask roughly how much it might take to fix this issue? I’m in scotland

Its better to try to remove the physical blockage first before throwing potentially harmful chemicals down your drain

It’s just part of owning or renting a house, you have to clean things out. My shower needs a clean every month or so. You can get a hair trap to stop hair getting in but I find they flood the shower tray.

If your toilets not flushing right either then it sounds like there may be an issue further down the line and it's backing up. Are you a flat or a house, is there a manhole cover you can lift to see what's going on. If you have a plumber it might be worth calling them to find out who they'd recommend for drain unblocking. As I've got older, I've put my squeamishness aside and it's one of my jobs. I've got rods and a jet snake to go in the pressure washer and just put my marigolds on and crack on.

I use tweezers to pull up the hair in our bath, don't have a separate shower
