considering an investment property this year. around 200k. looking at Salford or central Liverpool. decent yield and scope for growth in value.

anyone else? interested to hear other thoughts and ideas on areas. I know it's a tricky time but I still think property is a solid investment.

Would you not consider Birmingham? I think great time to invest there with all the developments and HS2 - property values will increase dramatically there.

Beaniesmumsie · 03/05/2023 15:36

I’m potentially looking at Leicester

Bamboozleme · 03/05/2023 15:37

Wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole

The way things are moving…. private landlords are soon to be public enemy number 1

Bamboozleme · 03/05/2023 15:38

and government policy will reflect that fact

Bamboozleme · 03/05/2023 15:39

And if it wasn’t like that… I wouldn’t be looking to central Liverpool. Presumably flat with no outside space. Absolutely not. Ruling out those working from home pretty much

SD25 · 03/05/2023 15:46

I wouldn't buy a flat ;-)

Birmingham, yes possibly. I don't know the area so would have to do more work around it. HS2 feels a long way off.

Central Liverpool £200k for a house with a garden?

Exchange230316 · 03/05/2023 20:55

You won’t get a decent house in Brum for less than 200k. You want something in an area that attracts students and young people and that tends to be Harborne/Selly Oak/Edgbaston/Jewellery Quarter/Central.
Also prices have already gone up in Brum.

GasPanic · 03/05/2023 21:00

No. Fed has just raised rates by another 0.25%.

We will almost certainly raise again by the same on the 11th. Interest rates are still rising.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 03/05/2023 21:01

Salford, house and garden with your budget would be in a rough as toast area.

ShadowPuppets · 03/05/2023 21:02

We’re not in a position yet but I’m looking at Middlesbrough.
