Metro tiles in a shower

So Metro tiles in a shower...bad idea? That's alotmof grout to clean!!
But I've my heart set of a peacock blue shower room.
I'm doing out my leaky crappy ensuite and I want this colour but big tiles in a peacock blue seem non existent. Does anyone have metro tiles in a shower room? Regret or not? Thoughts please.

We have forest green metro tiles in the shower and white metro tiles in the rest of the bathroom. I love them. We used a dark grout so cleaning isn't a problem

Likewise- we have white metro tiles with grey grout. Easy peasy! I’m a very uncommitted housekeeper, and they look fine 5 years later. I may book a deep clean next year and ask the cleaners to give them a good go, but they still look good!

We have white metro with white grout, we got a spray from the tile company, had to brush it on the grout when it was first done (pain in the arse) but the grout is still sparkling 3 years later and I'm no Kim/Aggie

We have Edwardian green metro tiles in shower with white grout, not a problem to clean at all

Mine are dove grey with grey grout and it doesn’t look grubby. I occasionally spray the bottom two rows with mould and mildew remover but I’m talking maybe twice a year, and that’s a ventilation issue more than anything.
Peacock blue sound lush!

We have dove grey metro tiles with dark grey grout. Much easier to keep looking nice.

Have you looked at something like mermaid boards? You can get them that look like tiles but much lower maintenance and much much lower installation costs. They do a very bright blue one. I have mermaid boards in my en suite and they still look brand new 5 years on

We had white metro tiles with white grout put into our bathroom over 16 years ago. Still looks pretty good but I clean the grout every fortnight with bleach using a toothbrush. Wish we'd grouted with dark grey grout.

We have metro tiles in our shower and they look great. White tiles and a pale grey grout, it still looks good about 6 years later.

I love Metro Tiles -though when we had our bathroom done the fashion was big tiles and I thought Metro Tiles looked a bit mens' toilet .

Is the water hard ? Can you fit a water softener to the shower pipework?

Ooooh! I've just looked these up! Do you think I could add them to the entire bathroom? We have peeling paint atm and I don't want that ever again (small, period bathroom).

@mightymam yes these can be used all over. Mermaid is just a brand name the generic term is probably showed boards. Not to be confused with the plastic cladding, which has its place, but these are a higher end finish.

Dark grey or black grout and you'll never climb into your shower armed with bleach and an old toothbrush again...
