Sliding doors installation cost

Hi, I am in process of dithering between bifolds and sliding doors. Opening is about 5m x 2.1 m. Currently there are two seta of French doors. So they will have to chop out the wall in the middle and do something to support the roof. Quote is for about 13.5k all in. Bifolds are about 2k less. We are in South East. The doors themselves are about 6ish k so labour is about 7. Also, does the triple.track get really dirty? And thoughts on safety? Thanks. I'm dithering because that's what I do AND it is so much money.

This might be unhelpful rather than helpful, but have you seen slide and pivot/slide and turn doors? They're sort of a cross between and seem to have the benefits of both.

We have an opening the same size as part of an extension. We originally went with bifolds and the builder advised us to switch to sliders in 3 panes. Brilliant advice, so much better view. I know as neighbour build the same extension as us and went for bifolds and really really regrets it.

Bifolds have a lot more moving parts as well which have large weight pressures so do tend to go wrong more as my neighbour found out

We have just had a quote for new sliding patio doors and it was £1,400 (just a two panel replacement sliding door though and no structural work needed). We decided against bifold or french doors as we didn't want to take up space in our kitchen or on the patio when the doors are open, and also a sliding door won't get caught in the wind.

Good luck with your project, sounds like it will be beautiful once done and you'll let so much extra light in by taking out the central wall column!

We're doing an extension and have the same size to you OP but in 2 panels (and triple glazing as it's south facing and will be cheaper for energy costs in the long run) which definitely upped the cost. Based on the research I did, the price you've got seems rather reasonable but probably does depend on sliding door spec as they can range a fair bit.
Ours just got installed last week and they do look amazing - it's still a building site but I keep going and staring at the garden just cos I can

@padsi1975 do you have any update on this? We are looking to do the exact same with you and an idea of cost would be awesome
