Plumbing…plugs? Please help!

Hi, I am going to buy new taps for my bath and 2 basins by, all have grotty looking existing taps and plugs, I want to get new plugs to match, and for the plugs not sure if i just need the circular visible bit where the water drains or do I need to get the pipey bit (excuse my poor plumbing expertise!) that goes in below aswell? I’ll attach photos…which would I need? Many thanks.

the waste is attached, so it’s not just the top circular bit. Not that I’ve ever seen. It should have dimensions so if you look at the height, even if it’s just showing the top bit, it should be the actual pipey bit too.

link for example.

If it's a basic plug on a chain, I think you just need a new plug the right size. If it's any type of pop up mechanism you'll need the plug and the waste pipe.

If the shiny metal bit around the plughole looks grotty and needs replacing then you'll need the whole thing. Otherwise if it's just the actual plug (the bit you pull out to empty the water away) then you just need that bit - but be sure to check the size carefully!

Thanks all. Yes the bit the plug slots into is grotty and needs replacing, so it will be the whole pipey bit that goes down into the whole i need to get then? I was just thinking the bit the plug slots into could be pulled off and replaced with just putting a new bit there. But thats why i’m here asking as i clearly know nothing about plugs and plumbing! 🙄😃
