Make a window look bigger?

Our kitchen window has a lot of empty space each side. Over a metre one side and one metre the other.

Does anyone have any tips of making it look bigger? I know putting blinds outside the recess can do it but that blinds and by how much?

Any advice or photos would be fab x

100mm each side for a blind. Obviously floor length is difficult in a kitchen. Or make the window bigger!
