Blackout blinds + existing shutters

Hi! Wondering if anyone has installed blackout blinds behind existing shutters.

We bought our place with shutters already fitted in the bedroom but due to street lights outside our windows we’re not getting good sleep as the light comes through the shutters. Currently using temporary blackout blinds using suckers which does the job but are ugly!

Has anyone fitted blackout blinds behind existing shutters? If so, what type of blinds work well?

Not much room behind the shutters … 😓

Any info/tips would be great! Thanks 🙏🏽

I believe this can be done. I can recommend ShutterLab, they will certainly be able to advise.

We had the same problem and our solution was to make our own removable velcro blinds that go over the shutters not behind them. We used white velcro (so you don't notice it on the shutter frame) and bought blackout material which we cut into 2 'blinds'. Each night we just stick the blinds up and take them down in the morning.

You could have a black out roller blind made that fits on the ceiling and is in front of the shutters.
