Credit checks before remortgaging

I know doing anything that involves credit checks before taking out a mortgage is normally not advised but what about when it comes to remortgaging? I'd like to take out a new mobile phone contract (staying with the same mobile phone company which would only involve a soft check I'm told) and possibly switch broadband providers (which I'm guessing will be a hard check). I need to remortgage next month - should I hold off or does it even matter?

I would hold off. But I'm super cautious. Some would say oh it will be clear it's just a phone contract, but it all depends on the rules. One extra contract or one extra credit search could be one too many. I used to work for a lender, not in the uk though, so not sure what a soft search is. In my country at the time there was one type of search and it did show up. If you can manage with old phone, I would, for now.

Flippant but serious too, you don't have a sofa from dfs or similar do you? Buy now pay later kind of thing. Avoid like the plague if you are planning to remortgage at any point.

Thank you! Will hold off and am definitely avoiding those pay later schemes!
