Heating boiler: where’s the isolation switch?!

I had a new combo boiler fitted recently, with a Hive thingy that connects to the thermostat.

The engineer couldn’t get them to link, and the Hive instructions say to switch off the boiler at the isolation switch. But we couldn’t find it!

The previous owners had a whole new fitted kitchen installed, but the old boiler predated that by a good few years. Before I start hauling drawers out, where is the switch likely to be?!

Ours is on the wall next to the boiler, above the WiFi unit

We've got a bank of switches on our kitchen wall.

I would assume it would be near the boiler, but obviously not

Mine is in the consumer unit, it has its own separate breaker with boiler written underneath it. There is also one in there for the immersion heater. If you wanted to power down and then power back up the boiler you could just switch off your electricity supply and then put it back on again (bearing in mind of course that would cut the electric to every device in your house at the same time, and the consequences of that which might not be nice if you've left all your PCs on).

I don't quite understand what you mean by the hive linking to the boiler. I have a hive. The thermostat is a separate control unit that floats around the house as needed and the main control unit is a box in the airing cupboard next to the cylinder (there is a separate box attached to the router as well).

My hive must have three physical control outputs. One to fire up the boiler, one to select the hotwater configuration on the values and a final one to select the central heating configuration. All of these must have connected up to the old controls, which also connected to a remote thermostat.
