Help me choose a rug please

I’ve lost all decision making abilities.

i want a rug that coordinates with my current living room rug. This rug is for the play space. They need to work together but don’t really want matchy matchy.

i know it want it cream/ecru. I’m very boring!

living room rug is Berber style polypropylene. My favourite is the check which is wool. Should I stick with Berber though as the rooms lead in to each other?

opinions please

You e chosen very pale colours for your play space. They won't look that lovely very quickly.

Just an opinion.

Agree with pp, i learnt the hard way with a light coloured rug!
We bought a dark one, much better.

It’s all very boring and unfinished at the moment as we’ve not long had it renovated.

the problem with the play space is that it has little natural light. When we bought the house it had a dark carpet down and the whole room looked gloomy which is why it really needs to be light.

What about jute? I have one on my family room.... and also a Berber but in the main sitting room. The only downside is it's not as comfy to sit/play on but not too scratchy.

Have you looked at Ruggable? They are washable

Duchess89 · 12/04/2023 18:36

I bought a runner for the kitchen from ruggable and really like it! It’s a bit pricey for the size I need though. Might need to save a bit longer!

@troppibambini6 i really love jute and plan to get one for under our dining table. I wanted something a bit more plush for the kids though as they love sitting on the living room rug.

No I totally get that, have a look at Dunelm if you do get one under the dining table I've been really pleased with mine and it was a good price.

Think you need something to contrast with tye flooring none of the ones linked would do that. Something darker.

78thcat · 12/04/2023 23:28

Do you have any accent colours in your house OP or is it all just cream/neutral?

isitaline97 · 12/04/2023 23:33

www.dunelm.com/product/soraya-traditional-rug-1000168306?colour=Soraya+Silver&defaultSkuId=30692874&rugSize=120cm+x+160cm+%284ft+x+5ft%29

We got this rug from dunelm (then lighter one of the two) for our lounge which is a high traffic area and gets super messy with the dog. It's light but has lots of darker tones in the pattern so it doesn't look filthy all the time 🤣
