What is conveyancing like these days?

We're relocating.

Last time we bought and sold was 2019 and it was AWFUL. The solicitors were slow, our buyer was nasty, our vendor was a lawyer but absolutely dodgy as hell. She knew what to lie about on the forms to make the process go quicker/ fail to bring things to attention.

Buyers pulled out. Prices went up. We lost money. It was just one horrid mess. That went on for 6 months.

We need to relocate quite far this time and I'm very excited about living somewhere new. But I'm terrified of the conveyancing process.

It made me physically sick with worry. Anyway, was just wondering if it's any better or worse since 2019? 😂

We don't need a mortgage this time. And last time mortgage and searches took AGES. We're in no rush to complete. So that's good.

(Although I know our buyer will likely need a mortgage!)

I think knowing and preparing myself will help manage expectations this time. If that makes sense.
