Extendable dining table for around £1k

Just had a bit of a disappointing look for a extendable table. I recently came into a bit of money and our dining table and chairs are falling to pieces. Looking to pay 800-1000 for table, 1-1.2k for 4-6 chairs.

John Lewis seemed to have stuff that fit the bill and there is one that might be a goer but it's not in stock right now and the extra leaves can't be stored under it so there's nowhere super convenient to put them. Others either didn't seem to be very sturdy extended and one had review that suggested the surface scratched easily, which is not good for us as a household!

Looking for a well-made 6-8 or ideally 6-10 table, at least wood-finished (so not mdf looking) for around the 1k mark, we prefer a simple or scandi style (not farmhouse or shiny), but I'm not sure where other than JL we should be looking at that price bracket, so would welcome any suggestions. Has to be somewhere with a physical shop, I don't think DH would be happy to order anything we can't see physically and he's probably right.

I would buy second hand. Get some idea on ebay, etsy or vinterior of what style you want, then search until you can find one in good condition.

Some of the mid century stuff can be very high quality furniture and relatively cheap.

Modern stuff tends to be either outrageously expensive or very poor build quality.

The thread was ressurected by an ai bot trying to advertise. I have reported it.

See if you can find a Habitat ‘Ruskin’ table second hand. Habitat Radius is amazing but not extendable.
Several resellers refurb and sell on …
