Off white / beige colour

I’m looking for an off-white / light beige colour for my hallway and kitchen. My downstairs hallway is quite dark but my kitchen is very light. I’ve tried Jasmine White and Timeless but they’re too white and can barely notice the different against the brilliant white we currently have on.

I’ve also tried Vanilla White and Almond White but they’re not quite right either but I’m not sure why.

F&B is out of our price range unfortunately so looking at Dulux, Crown, Johnstones etc.

Barley white?

Pluto46 · 06/04/2023 09:12

Johnstones have all the colour formulas for F & B so can mix those same colour as required. Colours are identical, paint is of equivalent (if not better) quality and at Johnstone prices

Natural Hessian. Dulux

It's basically a magnolia/cream/light beige. Feels warm and not stark but still light enough. I've seen it sold in B&M as well as B&Q etc

Or b&q own brand paint in Alberta. Lighter than Natural Hessian but still a cream colour.

Be sure to test the colours in both rooms as they'll probably look quite different. Off whites look more stark in darker rooms but the creamier tones come out more in brighter rooms.

Look at coat paints. We have mindful which is a pale taupe-it's really lovely

F and B white tie? Pretty and glowy fresh?

Bluevelvetsofa · 06/04/2023 13:57

Dulux Rock Salt

Dulux Rock Salt

That's definitely more white than the shades OP has discounted, plus it has grey undertones rather than beige.

Summer linen

Portland Stone - Pale or Light (Little Greene Paint Co). You can get their colour cards and then get it matched at B&Q etc.

Farrow and Ball Off White sounds like your description. Both Johnstones and Dulux will do colour mixing to match F&B paint.

F and B ammonite?

bravotango · 07/04/2023 20:52

We've just painted our living room (South facing) school House White mixed by Johnstone's which against white wood work is a great off white

Valspar magic touch.

Dulux Egyptian cotton

Summer linen is a lovely stone colour

Another vote for Dulux Summer Linen. A definite contrast with brilliant white and a soft warm neutral.

Sleeepdeprived · 08/04/2023 19:43

Thanks everyone! I love summer linen by dulux and house white by F&B! Going to get testers for both and see how they turn out

We've just done our kitchen in Nutmeg White and it looks great! We found Timeless too white too and Nutmeg White is just a shade darker
