Is this an ex-council house?

I don't know how to identify them? Just came across it on RM, within budget (expensive!), I dislike the look of it outside but it's gorgeous inside, very spacious, newly refurbished, a lot of light. Am I just being a snob or is this not a desirable looking house? I am not from the UK and am quite set on a Victorian terraced with bay-windows as my "dream home" (first time buyer), however I came across a few of these and they seem much more beautiful inside.

Is this an ex-council house?

It looks like an ex Army quarter I lived in. 🙂

It's not ex-council.
It was built in the 60s or 70s (if not chimney then 70s) when loads of these were built en-masse.

They're bloody ugly.
I live in one myself and I hate it.

I will say, however, that they have lots of cupboards built in.

The OP isn’t being snobby.

I wouldn’t buy a council house because I believe in social housing, which isn’t what the thread is about.

Name calling isn’t helpful.

And me. Right to buy was a huge asset strip of the public housing sector and stripped away this country's ability to adequately house people in need. And many houses, which were sold at a discount (why?) have ended up in the hands of private landlords who charge exorbitant rents back to Housing Benefit for short term lets in properties that used to offer a home for life. I'm not knocking anyone who buys one, but it was a disastrous Tory policy because they thought that homeowners were more likely to vote for them. And breathe.

@Lcb123 Thank you - yes I probably am! As I said, I am not from the UK so not used to this type of architecture. These type of houses usually seem to be in less desirable streets and always have a sad and shabby look, which is why I associate them with something negative I guess?
That said, the inside is way more gorgeous than most period houses I have seen.

Looks can be deceiving,

Do you mind pasting the right move link?

I live in a period home and that house looks like my idea of hell.

Wants to be able to say "i live in a victorian period property" rather than "i live in an ex council house" doesn't quite have the same ring to it when telling the folks back home (regardless of how nice the ex council house maybe).

Folks back home have no idea of what any of this means, we don't have the same type of buildings back home as in the UK - your comments was just offensive, frankly.
Nothing to brag about the UK houses, I can assure you, they are incredibly expensive and standards overall very low compared to most EU countries.

It could well be ex council. My first house was ex council (1960s built) and was on the edge of a lovely village.

When we came to sell, it was snapped up very quickly. Best house I've ever owned in terms of nice square rooms, balance of room sizes, built in cupboards etc...

I miss that house!

Pic of an ex council house on that estate attached. Not mine, but one close by!

You can generally determine which are ex council from the same sort of building era. So your photo is also a 1960/1970s era house and also crosswall but the windows are much much smaller. Private housing stock massive windows - wall to wall - council smaller windows.
