We have an Edwardian terraced house in SW London. We need a new door. We were quoted £8k by Banham (which included lock). Anyone replaced theirs recently and at what price and are we being ripped off??

That's about the price that the London Door Company quoted us as well - acoya wood with stained glass window by the side. If you are in SW London it's worth asking Richmond Doors, who quoted about £6k for the same thing. They did a great job for us. I know people will be along in a minute with how ridiculous this is and you can get one for much less (of way inferior quality in my opinion). My front door is one of the best things I spent money on in my house. It's secure and looks great.

Do you want a brand new door or would a reclaimed one work? Saw some for under £1k when shopping for reclaimed fireplaces recently. The doors were dipped, so ready for painting.

Honestly, it's good price if you want a wood, bespoke made door.

If you can do a composite, PVC or aluminum door you can pay much less.
