Do I need to contact the council about getting solar panels?

Due tp get solar panels fitted soon. Live in a non conservation area, and not a listed building. I know planning permission isn’t required, but do I need to inform the council prior to installation?

I was in a similar position, I wrote to the Planning Office and got confirmation that permission was not required. IIRC the installers asked for the letter.

You will need Building control approval at the end to sign off.

Do you know a regulation saying so?

I paid ovefr£100 for Building approval in December in Northern Ireland, they came out and made a few comments ensuring the roof was still water tight.

Do you mean there is a regulation in NI?

Absolutely or I have been conned with my Building Control Certificate

I've just had panels fitted and no planning needed for me. The installation company will probably cover the building regs requirements. The electrical work certainly is notifiable.
