Who wants to decide how I should hang my curtains?

Cast your votes for a very boring decision.

Redecorating my study and not sure what would look best.

A) starting from the top of the wall, going to the floor. Read that this would make the room look and feel bigger and I think it kind of does but is it too much space between top of window and ceiling?

B) starting from the top of the window to the floor

C) starting from the top of the window to the bottom (this is what I had pre-redecorating)

and yes I did get an A in my Art GCSE, how could you tell?

C.
let the radiator heat the room.

None! I'd go for hanging curtain rail halfway between the top of window and the top of wall, at ceiling. A is too high B is too low, C is OK but your window CD look bigger

Wow, I couldn't live with the radiator as it is, replace it with a short one then have lovely full length curtains top to bottom. (Why did someone think that radiator was a good idea........)

Because it's where radiators were traditionally positioned when they were, er, invented.

In my new place I'm having drapes from nearly the ceiling to the floor. I think it looks more elegant.

Yes and how long ago was that? Things have changed you know>

B, but the pole needs to be higher.

C should never be allowed. Short curtains are an abomination.

Pole height somewhere between A and B. Exact measurement up from window top should equal vertical measurement between pole end and window vertical. Make your pole as wide as possible but when drawn back curtains should cover (only) this window sides (so depends on curtain thickness and fullness). Curtain length 2cm above floor. Make your own and use lead tape at bottom so they hang perfectly.

Sorry what?!? I don't understand how anyone understands what you've written here! 😂

“Exact measurement up from window top should equal vertical measurement between pole end and window vertical. “

What does “pole end” and “window vertical” mean in this context?

"Make your pole as wide as possible but when drawn back curtains should cover (only) this window sides (so depends on curtain thickness and fullness). "

What do you mean by “window sides”? That the curtain should just cover the frame and none of the window?

Floor length always looks better and personally I’d go for the curtain pole being at a midway point horizontally.

Margrethe · 10/04/2023 14:52

I’d go for A.
