Can anyone give me a approx cost of a Neptune, Tom Howley or Roundhouse kitchen? Those types of brands.

Just needing some ideas of what budget we'll need for brands like this.

Tom Howley quoted me over £80k for 8m x 5m kitchen but were not transparent in what was included. I used HMKC in the end for well under £20k for over 20 drawers and huge bifold breakfast cupboard and larder, 3m island and glazed units. Price was including floor, quartz and appliances (all integrated including 2 dishwashers, 2 pull out bins etc) and it looks amazing. I used shaws sink and perrin and rowe taps, solid brass handles. Very pleased i didnt use Tom Howley as it was high pressure sales and no honesty in what was feasible. I would rather someone say those dimensions are not workable ie drawer width or height or width of bifolds.

Try Plain English or Devol also

Try Furniture Nation

Does the hmkoc include painting as well?

hmkckitchen · 30/03/2023 08:54

I painted it myself and oiled the oak insides of drawers etc as i find that fun and satisfying but i had over 25 units for that price, many of them 1m wide and 2 were 1.5m wide. Most kitchens would likely have less units so even with paying for painting I think it would still be a quarter of cost of tom howley etc.

I had a hand built kitchen made from a company in Wiltshire called Cheverell. It was big and included all the appliances (wine fridge, Falcon range snd fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher). I had an island, granite worktops and pantry cupboard. It was £36k. My neighbour had a Tom Howley, it was not hand built or hand painted. Similar size and cost over 100k. Personally I would get a good small local bespoke kitchen place to design and price a kitchen.

Thank u hmckitchen
Can u share any tips on your choice of cabinets to keep costs down
I saw their catalogue ND it's the same price for any width cabinet within a range, so going for 1 metre cabinets without fbacy pullouts would be cost effective isn't it...
I have tall ceilings and would like cabinets to go up to ceiling, will the cost be the same for any heights too..
How di u find the painting task! So only outside needs painting not the inside of cabinets
They are oak veneer carcass not solid wood but how is the quality compared to diy

We had a Tom Howley kitchen 8 years ago for a 5m x 3.5m kitchen. Didn't include range cooker or fridge which we already had, or flooring. Granite worktop and large island - came in at £40k.

The kitchen was beautiful, but they were a nightmare to deal with:

cancelled our installation date a week before it was due to start and told us the next one would be in 6 weeks (already 2 months without a proper kitchen),

fitted racks in drawers that weren't what had been agreed and tried to get out of changing them,

did most of the job and then left without telling us when they would be back and we had a nightmare getting them to come and finish the job,

under-cabinet light fittings used were impossible to change the bulb in,

they broke one of the shades on the main light fitting and refused to replace it.

Like I said, beautiful kitchen but overpriced and I really wouldn't recommend them.

malbab - standard height is only up to 2.4m (excluding cornice) otherwise you need to design it differently.

All the insides need oiling on everything but that is very easy - just wipe over with a cloth a few times. Drawers are solid oak.

painting needs care - it wouldnt be a job to do if you havent painted anything before if you want a professional look. I hadnt done a kitchen before and it looks perfect.

No comparison with this quality and DIY, totally different league as this is bespoke, butt hinges, dove tail solid oak drawers etc. plus totally bespoke ie you can have a cupboard 343mm deep by 827mm wide for example

Should have said when you receive the kitchen you understand why units have maximum height of 2.4m as the weights are unbelievable. Took 4 to lift our 1.5 x 1.5 breakfast cupboard onto the quartz work top. Even the smallest units are very heavy. The units are incredibly solid, we had no idea they would be so heavy.

I think Tom Howley is quite a bit more expensive than Neptune.

For that look and keeping costs down, if you have a fairly standard kitchen I would look at British Standard Cupboards, which is the sister brand to (lovely but expensive) Plain English. BSC have the prices on the website so you can get an idea of costs.

Alternatively (and what we did) ask around for a local kitchen company or joiner and get something bespoke. You should be able to find someone who can do better quality than Neptune etc for the same price or less.

Thanks all
Based on the above I think we'll be having it made!
