Would you still go ahead

Builder meant to start yesterday replacing my roof but didn’t turn up.
Start of last week I messaged him with details of building regs coming to over see the job which he read and didn’t reply . This message also re confirmed start date
he text me this morning saying it was forecast rain all week?
I am at work so text him saying I didn’t hear from him so don’t know where I stand
he text apologising saying his van was stolen yesterday?

I don’t think I would ! Seems unreliable … probably a lucky escape.

I wouldn’t proceed. If you’ve got that feeling, trust your gut, and find a roofer you have more faith in.

I've chanced it with builders a number of times, but probably not a good idea to go ahead with something like a roof. What if he bails with it half done?!?!?
