Maidenhead Advice

Hello

We are moving to Maidenhead. Work is there and also school.

We know there are some lovely villages nearby but we do not have the time to be travelling. We currently live 20 mins away from Maidenhead and it is a nightmare. Marlow is a complete nightmare to get to and from.

Looking for a 3 bed semi in nice family area. Budget isn't huge!

Furze Platt? Cox Green? North Town?

We have ruled out Boyn Hill. Not our cup of tea.

Any advice/ experience greatly appreciated.

Thanks that's definitely helpful.

@1down when you say there are plenty of nice places to get dinner, drinks etc. Do you mean in the all saints area or in maidenhead and surrounding towns?

More surrounding areas..there is a decent coffee shop just off all saints Road and a bakery tho so that's nice for a breakfast. Cookham isn't far and that has lots of good options too.

Hello all

We are moving to Maidenhead and found a house on Forlease Road (which is great as I have twin babies and Waitrose is right next door if I need something) but we are wondering if there is an issue with the smells from the recycling center? Many people seem to complain about it but I am not sure if it reaches Forlease Road.

I have also read complaints about the tap water. Many say that it tastes funny. Some even complain that it smells when they have a shower.

Thank you

When we moved there 20 years ago, a friend said "Avoid the Forlease Road area" I still haven't worked out why. Walked it daily for years and it was fine. No smells there, but if you walk to Braywick or through the new estate off Stafferton Way, you might get a whiff. Oldfield School is fantastic, it should be catchment. Great central location, near all the new restaurants and eating places too, do try Bakedd and Presto, great for daytime meet-ups with the babies. Not too far for lovely walks along the river.

Never had an issue with the tap water or heard anyone complain, might just be used to it though!

My first thought at the words Forlease Road was floods. I think the Jubilee River has made it far less likely, but I'd check with someone more local.

Hi. I know its an old post but wanted to ask...

We are putting our house on the market in London after Christmas and am starting search around relocating to Maidenhead.
DS is in specialist secondary near railway station, need to find mainstream secondary for DD with good pastoral care. Viewed Altwood and seems a caring and nurturing school. Also DH and myself need to commute into London so max 30 min walk to station. Also, budget is £650-700k for 3 bedroom. Altwood area has houses in that region. Would people prefer Furze Platt area? Would be good to find semi at least as DS is autistic and can be loud in the garden so will need understanding neighbours, but suppose this will come down to luck!
Thanks so much!
