Soundproofing for walls form outside noise

Hi all,

Does anyone have any good/bad stories about soundproofing of a flat in SW London? I have a flat with a lot of lorries/deliveries noise right outside the flat but the worst of all is a pub weekly kegs delivery at 6-7am in the morning and it is driving my crazy. I am waken up constantly.

Do you have recommendations for types of soundproofing / companies to do it? Very new to soundproofing of the walls, although I have done a very extensive research on the secondary glazing, which is what I will do first.

I looked into this for our old house. I did cheap thibgs which did improve noise levels... but didnt spend Big Money. We were close to a road, and it was motorbike noise (speedibg) that was the worst. Nothing really blocked it out, but there were some easy wins...

Cheapest is draughtproofing everything, everywhere. Also v effective, probably the biggest difference. Brush tape for windows that open, mastic for anything that doesnt.

Next, glazing: sounds like youre onto that.

Deadening noise - so adding surfaces that are soft to reduce reverberation. Carpets or super-fluffy thick rugs, hefty interlined curtains, chuncky upholstered headboards, etc. Im guessing the early morning deliveries disturb you in bedroom, so thats rhe obvious place to start. There are two issues with sound: the amount entering your space, and the amount that echos off your walls/floor/etc. Deadening it will make a difference.

Actual wall insulation is very spendy, as external wall is usually not possible as a stabd alone job for flats and internal wall insulation will make rooms notably smaller. Ive no clue about cavity wall as house was far too old for that. We moved before we got close to looking into any sort of wall insulstion.
