Wall colour with this sofa?

Just bought this teal sofa and need to redecorate. It’s a small north facing living room so no direct sunlight but does have a large bay window and some light from an adjoining dining room, oak coloured floors and door.

Wall colour with this sofa?

Like a dusky pink?

ThanksForYourHelp · 23/03/2023 14:13

Go to the paint store and find a swatch in the same shade as the sofa. Then choose the palest option in that colour that you can find a swatch for. What you buy will look like white just in its own swatch, but it will be a lovely and warm complementary background when its on the walls.

Great tip, thanks!

I’d go for yellow but fully understand that most wouldn’t 😅

melmos · 23/03/2023 14:22

F&b Setting plaster is really love in North facing room and I think would match. Or orchre maybe

Africa2go · 23/03/2023 14:24

We have a similar coloured sofa and have F&B Stony Ground behind it (3/4 of the wall) and then Ammonite above it. Looks great (I think).

HarrietStyles · 23/03/2023 14:28

Navy blue

I was also going to suggest F&B Ammonite

We've got similar. I've got white walls, beige carpet and curtains and light blue cushions. It's very restful

Agree with pp a dusky pink or pale yellow. Even a bright yellow depending on your taste! I think with a statement colour sofa if you go for beiges in rest of room the sofa will stand out too much and look odd. Then again I'm definately not a beige walls kind of person so personal choice on that!

Jellybean23 · 23/03/2023 17:08

Pale warm yellow would be my choice. And terracotta cushions for the sofa.

Findyourneutralspace · 23/03/2023 17:10

That’s such a gorgeous bold colour I’d paint the wall ivory so that the sofa really stands out as a feature

SkankingWombat · 23/03/2023 17:14

Midnight blue

IggyAce · 23/03/2023 17:40

Dulux rock salt.

DarkNecessities · 23/03/2023 17:42

I have a slightly lighter sofa and the wall behind is a dusky purple

Paddingtonthebear · 23/03/2023 18:53

We don’t enjoy using F&B paint which is a shame as they have lovely colours. I’m not sure pale yellow would go or if it would look like a preschool room. At the moment some of the walls are white but some are aqua blue (previous owner) which we need to get rid of asap. Will have white shutters in the bay.

That is genius....

We have a teal sofa! The walls behind it are white but have a feature wall in dusky pink - Little Greene’s Dorchester Pink (can’t show whole room as my kids are in it)

OP, Johnstone's do F&B and LG colours. I actually have a tin of Dix Blue dupe that I've still to use so I can't tell you first hand yet how good it is (or not) but a lot of people swear by it.

I would too.

mewkins · 23/03/2023 19:05

I meant a strong mustard yellow rather than pale yellow.

EggyBreads · 23/03/2023 19:07

Farrow and ball Babouche.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 23/03/2023 19:09

Little Greene China Clay - deep

Africa2go · 23/03/2023 19:46

Johnstones paint colour matched - or use the e-colour colour match thingie to a matched colour.

Beebumble2 · 24/03/2023 15:49

We have a similar coloured sofa and Fired Earth’s Tyrian Rose walls, but a big bay window so it’s not a dark room.
