Ring cameras and privacy zones etc

Hi - so installed it as per instructions at height, and looked for guidance on what to record/exclude. Motion zone excludes neighbours drives so if they walk around their property it won't pick up. That's simple I think.
However we face a row of three small houses and I excluded them using a privacy zone. Last night we had an incident and obviously no face captured as the privacy zone doesn't pick up or show anything at that height.
Is this just a suck it up situation? I can only think maybe if getting a camera to cover our drive?

Why are you excluding it? It’s not actually illegal to filming things you can see from a public place. There are rules around storage and GDPR but they certainly don’t mean you can’t film front doors on the other side of the street.

Oh really? That's interesting. I read that you shouldn't film your neighbours' property. The trouble is , being opposite, the black cut outs mean anyone on our drive is shoulders down only.

I've been playing with the motion zones, and trying to reduce them to just proportionate, but the doorbell needs to be where someone can ring it, so I can't angle it 3m up for example.
I always delete any recordings (except for last night when the headless person vandalised our front) .
