Ealing Insider Info

NicLondon1 · 19/03/2023 21:07

I would love some insider info on Ealing areas and especially primaries.... currently considering either North Ealing, Montpelier, St Gregory's, Fielding or Little Ealing (wide range I know, but we're viewing properties near all of those!).

For example, I know Montpelier is the sought-after Outstanding one, but have heard anecdotally that the culture isn't so nice... is that true?
St Gregory's sounds like lovely culture but should I worried that it has a sketchy Ofsted past..?
Fielding sounds amazing but 5 forms feels too big..?
Any info much appreciated thank you! (I’ve posted in Education but no replies so trying here thx)

Montpellier/Fielding/Little Ealing and North Ealing are all popular. Admission distances are small so most don't get a choice between them. I think Fielding is probably as sought after as Montpelier. Some choose Little Ealing over Fielding (and North Ealing over Montpellier) because they want a smaller community school rather than a big London school. I'd be happy for my kids to go to any of them.

St Gregory's is the odd one out being Catholic and undersubscribed but their latest Ofsted may change that.

I went to Montpelier but I'm nearly 50 so not sure how helpful that is! (Ealing born and bred).

Little Ealing and most of the primary schools in Northfields are some of the best in Ealing. Northfields has a great community and id FULL of young families.
whils the houses near Montpelier are lovely, there isn’t the community feel you get with Northfields. Also, please don’t just rely on OFSTED ratings

Montpelier and Fielding are highly sought after due to OFSTED ratings. Oaklands is a smaller primary (similar to Little Ealing) which has been graded Outstanding too recently so expect that may pull a few parents from Northfields. I visited Montpelier at an open day two years ago and was not impressed at all. We turned down our offer as a result. Agree re the remark there doesn’t seem to be a community feel to Montpelier as many parents don’t live in the area (bizarrely). A lot seem to move further out once their kid has a place. Best advice is to try and visit the schools to be honest. I’ve heard some kids have got into top grammar schools from Montpelier (with tuition) so swings and roundabouts.
