Cleveleys

Looking at moving to the Blackpool / Bispham / Thornton / Cleveleys area.
I am thinking about taking a job I've been offered in the Blackpool area, working for the NHS.
I will be moving with husband, no children at home now. Only the two of us but need 3 bedroom for room and for guest rooms.
We can't afford over 170k at the moment.
Don't know anyone and we don't have any family or friends in the area.
The new job would be promotion and hopefully a better salary for me. Husband has driving and retail skills. He's apprehensive about moving there but loves the Blackpool area.
I saw houses for sale in Cleveleys, around the ascot Rd Cleveleys area and Devonshire Rd bispham and also Talbot Rd, Lytham Rd in Blackpool areas for sale within our budget.
Don't think we could stretch to Poulton le flyde, sadly, as it is expensive there.
I have been to Blackpool in the summer, it's nice and we like walking along the front and the airshow is good, always something to do. We've shopped in Cleveleys but never been there to stay. Though it looks nice enough
Just wanted a bit of advice on best areas and if Cleveleys is good place to live.
We're still undecided
Thanks for all your help

Watching with interest.

I've PM'd you.
Have you thought about St Annes? That is thought of as "nicer" than Blackpool or Cleveleys and there might be something there
Lots of people work in Blackpool but live in St Annes or Ansdell

I wouldn’t move to Blackpool but Thornton-Cleveleys is fine. Are you committed to living in a town as there’s some beautiful villages in Fylde and Wyre?

Not talbot rd

Flowerpower70 · 13/03/2023 21:06

Look around North Shore, but the Bispham end (behind the golf course). There are some cracking 1930s large semis going for a song!

Thank you!

DH is a bit apprehensive as he heard some areas can be a bit deprived but otherwise, he loves the area.
He loves the Blackpool front.
We always go to watch the airshow, watch the fireworks and illuminations switch on.
As well as the arcades and walking the prom, going for a meal.
Would be great to gace all this on our doorstep!

Love Cleveleys, much much nicer than central Blackpool. The beach is miles better too- minimal tourists, clean and away from the crowds.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 13/03/2023 22:06

My friend lives on Cumberland Ave just off Whitegate Drive, walking distance to the hospital

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 13/03/2023 22:06

Sorry, should have said, that's in Blackpool

Eatentoomanyroses · 13/03/2023 22:09

Cleveleys is ok. Definitely the better option over Blackpool. Thornton cleveleys is better if you can get anywhere there. Carleton might be worth looking at too. It’s cheaper than poulton

MissingMoominMamma · 13/03/2023 22:10

The area I was talking about is before you get to Gynn Square. From Red Bank Rd, going south, but on the sea side of Devonshire Rd. It’s quiet and residential, with traditional houses and bungalows.

MissingMoominMamma · 13/03/2023 22:24

I like that one @TheUnquestionedAnswer !

St Anne's has a big drugs problem
Cleveleys is more of an older relaxed crowd type of town with a much lesser drugs problem. Its far easier less expensive amd far far less druggy than st annes
