Completion before the end of March.. is there a reason?

Would there be any advantage to a cash buyer to complete before the end of March, and therefore the end of the tax year?

Or to a seller for that matter.

Our buyers solicitor is really pushing for a quick completion and just wondered why

Potential changes to stamp duty in the budget next week - are they overseas buyers or buying a 2nd property, as those are the ones most likely to see any changes. Or CGT if they are selling a rental property to fund this purchase?

Ahh @witheringrowan I do believe it will be a second property...

Could be they have a birthday coming up and that will reduce what they can borrow if they become a year older

@dotdotdotdash good thinking but in this case it's a cash buyer so no mortgage.

Likely their own tax affairs for reasons we'll never know, or the estate agent desperate to hit their targets (Which are probably quarterly and have obviously been more challenging in recent months)

Probably change to CGT

Silverwannabe · 08/03/2023 08:33

Yep changes to CGT
