Moving house, kids + painting - what does everyone do?

Afternoon all

we are hopefully moving house at the end of the month. The house needs painting (all rooms). I was thinking I’d need to stay away with my 2 boys (3 and 8 months old). Is this the case? Is it safe for them to be there with the paint, and even if it is, how is it manageable keeping them entertained whilst living in a mess and potentially wet walls?

does everyone else stay away for the first week? I only really have my sisters to stay at but they’ve a lot going on at the moment so didn’t want to necessarily just do that

Modern paint isn't toxic to be around so it's safe for children to be in the house.

Do you mean you're getting decorators in to paint everywhere? I'd ask them if they plan to be in every room or if they can do half whilst you stay in the other half and then swap around. Probably easier not to be there if possible.

I've never had the luxury of getting it all done at once and do my own painting but it's always easier if children aren't near wet paint!

Modern paint is fine. I just painted my hallway this morning whilst my 2 year old was at nursery. It dries quickly and was fine by the time I stopped and collected him about 30 mins after last painting.

I use little greene now for everything as it’s so easy to use, water based so easy to clean up and can do with child around

Modern paint is fine, we often decorate with DA who is 9. We are currently renovating and let him take a wall down with his dad

We've had to renovate our entire house and have done most of the painting ourselves. We moved when my dd was 2 and ds 4. We mainly did it in the evenings when they were in bed but also just did it room by room so there was somewhere to go to avoid wet paint. My ds did insist on helping with the painting when we did it during the day though!

You don't need to keep the kids away from the paint fumes - you probably want to keep them away from wet walls!
We had keys to both houses for a bit, so did the kids bedrooms before any furniture was moved in. Those rooms were blissfull to paint!
Now working our way slowly round the rest if the house - done 2 more rooms, moved in last summer! One room at a time.
I'd be inclined to say ont paint immediately. Live in the place and see what the ight does first.
