Will this sofa (box) fit through door?

Hello,

Hope you can advise please.

Ordered sofa online and (stupidly) only just thought about it fitting through doorways. Quite confused about the dimensions as the box seems smaller than the sofa! I thought this was because the legs wouldn’t be fixed but the more I look, the less I understand.

These are the dimensions in the product spec:

sofa : height 90cm. depth 112cm. width 163cm.

box : height 209cm. width 117cm. depth 95cm.

It’s confusing to me as by height (of box) they mean longest length and by width (of sofa) they mean longes length. Hope you understand me!

my back doorway (easiest access) is just 78 and a half cm. Very worryingly, my living room doorway is 73 and a half cm.

it comes in the box. If it could be brought in out of the box, would it work? I don’t even know if the delivery people will do that though, and what if it’s raining?

Tia.

Is it one of those where the back/arms comes off? Usually sofas can be tipped into a v shape to fit through doorways.

Silentbarking · 01/03/2023 12:11

I don’t know, can you tell me how I’d find that info please? But it comes in a box so...

I have no idea, I assume it would be in the sales info when you bought it. I’ve never bought a sofa in a box before, which is what made me wonder.

II’s from Dunelm if that helps, not sure which courier they use or they use their own (if that might make the delivery people more amenable, not so rushed).

Just had a look at their website and most of their sofas say part assembled so means the legs or arms will be put on afterwards. So might mean taking it out of box outside then assembling it inside.

RedRiverShore3 · 01/03/2023 12:28

If it won't fit in the box it will be unpacked outside and brought in unboxed. Does it say doorstep, kerb or full installation delivery/room of your choice, that will determine who unpacks and brings it in

RedRiverShore3 · 01/03/2023 12:30

The legs or other bits are probably packed at the end of the box, hence the much longer length than the sofa actually is

ChinoiserieNerd · 01/03/2023 12:33

Can you post a link to the sofa?

Silentbarking · 01/03/2023 12:37

chat agent got some advice from delivery staff, they will do their best but if can’t manage will give full refund, which is very fair. It doesn’t come in a box! Confusing, as they give those dimensions in the spec. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for your replies.

You'd be surprised at the skill of delivery people getting furniture through a door, my money's on them being able to do it.
We did it ourselves when we recently moved, took the arms off a 4 seater sofa and put them back on once inside

RedRiverShore3 · 01/03/2023 12:45

it will be a 2 man delivery then I would think, I'm sure they will get it in ok as actual sofa width is lower than the door, it's when they are higher than doors it's more of a problem, I would sit back and let them deal with it. Enjoy your sofa

Silentbarking · 01/03/2023 12:45

Campervangirl, I hope so! Apart from me really liking the sofa, I will have to wait again for a different one and sitting on a small mattress isn’t recommended in the longer term.

Good news is it’s Dunelm’s own delivery which makes me feel less stressed.

Thank you, red river shore!

This is why I bought a Nabru sofa. Came disassembled on a pallet, then you strip down the pallet and haul the separate bits upstairs then assemble. The arms do weigh a ton though.

Plus you can buy spares, including covers, so after 5 years you can whack on a new cover set and it is like having a new sofa.
