Hello,

I need to renovate a living room & some bedrooms. Can I check this is the correct order for trades pls

electrics

plumbing

woodwork eg skirting/coving/architrave/changing door, built in alcoves/wardrobes

plastering/skimming

painting

flooring

do you need to get the plumber back to remove the radiator for painting & the electrician to install the actual ceiling light?

thank you

I would do the plastering before the woodwork if it were me. Otherwise you are liable to get doors and built in wardrobes trashed.

Plastering before woodwork.

yes that makes sense, thank you!

Taking the radiator off and changing the ceiling light are both relatively simple DIY jobs. The decorators might take the radiator off but some won't. Electrician will change the light fitting if you need but definitely needs doing after plastering and decorating.

I think electrician may need to come back post plastering to do a final fit (?)

You need plumbing and electrics first fix before plastering where they will chase all the channels and put in the cables and pipes.

Then you need plumbing and electrics second fix after plastering where they will put the sockets faces on, connect up the radiators etc. Can also be after painting if you like then the decorator doesn't have the mask the sockets and lighting fittings etc.

If you're having wooden/laminate flooring, you'll need to fit the skirting last.

thanks all, I didn't think about 2nd fixes.
