When to move freezer

Probably overthinking this but getting work done next week and will need to move the fridge/freezer. I'm going to shunt/walk it 10 steps from it's usual home. Do I really need to switch it off for hours if it's upright and going 3 feet away?

I would empty it, unplug it and move it (you will need help). It should only take 10 minutes to move that distance. Then plug it in, put all food back it and carry on with my life. Perhaps put it on 'super cool for 30 minutes.
Ours has wheels at the back and leveling feet at the front.

Empty it, then move it, restock it, leave it for an hour for the refrigerant to settle, the turn it back on.

Thanks both.

Yes you do need to leave it to settle for an hour or so to make sure the refrigerant doesn't have air bubbles which would break the pump.

Frozen food won't defrost in a closed freezer for about 24 hours.
