Those who remortgaged to new lender to extend

Wasn’t sure if I sure post this in here or money matters but trying here first!

Looking for info from people who remortgaged to a new lender when specifically borrowing extra to extend please.

My questions are what stage were you at with your extension plans? How much info about the build did the lender want etc?

Thank you.

Be very careful with your timing - we were stupid and left it a bit late (just didn't think about it!) and the kitchen had already been removed so the house was technically unmortgageable at that point as no kitchen. That drastically reduced the number of lenders we could apply to. We got an excellent mortgage advisor who got us sorted but it was stressful as we initially thought we might not be able to remortgage at all.

The actual remortgage process itself was v quick and straightforward. The lender did a desk top valuation as it wasn't a huge amount of money, so didn't actually see the state the house was in at that point - we did declare the building work etc.
