Outside awning or inside blinds (or something else)

After last summers weather it has made me decide I really need to do something with my patio doors. They are east ish facing and get the sun first thing, so much so the floor is hot to walk on.

I am wondering whether an awning outside ti block the Sun or blinds inside are better. I assume it would have to be roller blinds but not sure if I will like the look of them when not in use. Has anyone got pics of roller blinds on patio doors they wouldn't mind sharing?

Have you looked at Perfect Fit blinds? You can have either Venetian or pleated and they just cover the glass, so less bulky than a roller.

We had the same problem as you, but our garden is south facing. It gets too hot to sit in, and made our lounge unbearable in the summer. We went for an awning in the end, as we have a dog and cats, and they have to use the patio doors to go outside. The awning has made a huge difference, we can sit outside without burning to a crisp, our pets love the shade under it too, and it definitely helps keep the lounge cooler.

I am not sure they will work - they are sliding patio doors so I think they could get caught up when you open it.

Thank you. I might investigate this option as I'm just not sure I will like the look of roller blinds.
