Paint samples on the wall in my dark hallway, and near a window - these colours looking nothing at all like the swatches!

anyone like to guess at identifying them? And do you like any for my hall? (Three story house, v dark downstairs hall, very light top floor…)

The background colour (I assume magnolia) is the same throughout but looks completely different…

Also open to other suggestions…

l like the one on the far right in the left picture, which I assume is the same on the far right.

I have a three storey house which is quite dark. We used polished pebble (dulux) which works well

I quite like the green rather than the greys but hallways need to tie into the rest of your decor, is the rest neutral or brighter colours? I also quite like that white colour as it doesn't look dingy even in low light which a lot of whites can.

We really need to know what make of paint they are, but if it's Farrow and Ball (which would be my Mastermind specialist subject, sad case that I am), I guess you have samples of Mizzle, Skimming Stone, Wimborne white and Bancha (the dark green) there...

I'd go Tallow to illuminate (posh Magnolia) and then Bancha on one wall as a counterpoint feature- I tend to do that on the Northerly wall, as it's the "dark" wall - but that may be me and my way of thinking about it.

Also check out Brinjal - it makes a gorgeous statement wall...

And possibly Elephant's Breath and the one called Mole or similar

Far right and far left on first.
Bottom left on second.

Far right and top right on the two pictures.
Maybe the white - it depends on what else is in the space.
Is it all going one colour? I like the dark green, but it's too much to do more than a little.

I don’t love any of them tbh.

Personally I like a rich, deep colour for a poorly-lit space. It’s going to look dull, why not play into it? Dark red, dark green? With richer pigment than these, not so grey. Farrow and ball have some inspiration photos I find helpful.

CellophaneFlower · 25/02/2023 19:53

To me the colours look similar in both pics, but the background colour doesn't! Are they mostly darker than you expected? I always find this with testers compared to the colour card, no matter what the colour.

We had just walnut in our town house stairwell. It's most like the one on the right. But I do like the white in that selection. I think the others are too dark and sludgy for the space. I'd be tempted to consider colours like MollyMunster is suggesting.
