Hello all, Recently purchased a property, which has a herringbone parquet floor in some areas.I love the parquet but some walls etc need to come down in the internal remodelling, merging areas together and some of the parquet will have to come out. Other areas will become larger and will need flooring.I’m wondering if its even worthwhile to try and relay the parquet removed from one area into the other area of the floor. Can this be DIY or is that a crazy thought? Have any of you done this and what are your thoughts ? Is it very expensive to get a specialist in? I’ve no idea and don’t want to get in touch with someone without some inkling of what to expect. Thanks in advance for any input given.

It absolutely can be done, people pay good money for reclaimed flooring! It would probably be best done be a professional, but well worth it. I should think it might be spendy, but decent new flooring is expensive anyway.

We had ours renovated as it was loose and scratched. Looked fab after and the guys did a good job. It's not a DIY thing, unless you really want to scrape off bitumen!

Thanks @Wombats67 I'll look up someone local who may deal in parquet
