What sort of door handle is this?

Does it actually twist or is it just a large brass door pull?

It does turn and is part of an old rim
lock, this is the inside of it. However this is not in use as there is a more secure door lock now . So the doorknob is just decoration at this point, but taking it out leaves a big hole. Would like to replace or find a back plate to make it look tidier from the outside. Just haven’t found something that’s the same shape which I thought was a bit unusual!
