Utlity area refit - awkward space

Hi all,

We have a small utility area (5 x 5 feet) off our kitchen

It's badly in need of a total revamp but has very awkward dimensions, with 2 doors (one from kitchen and one out to backdoor), 3 steep steps, a sloping ceiling and a number of awkward wall and floor encasements. It houses our fridge, washing machine and boiler.

We have tried DIY kitchens, but most of the cupboards won't fit the necessary and awkward dimensions (depths and width are so different to what we require that even with filler panels, we can't use the space in any meaningful way).

The cheapest we could get Magnet Kitchens down to was £5k including fitting but not including additional electrics, plumbing and flooring - which can be negotiated with the fitter. This seems crazy to me for what is essentially going to be cupboards across a width of 5 foot and some casing for the fridge in their cheapest fit-out.

Does anyone have any idea if we would just be better off going with a carpenter? Concerned that we will have to pay for additional individuals for electrics, plumbing and flooring and cost will end up same.`

Ideally we want to spend £4k for all in.
