Somewhere between Haslemere and Farnborough

Hi, wondering if anyone has any tips on nice areas between Haslemere and Farnborough. My parents want to move specifically somewhere between these if possible to be closer to me and my brother but they don’t know the area very well (and neither do I as I only recently moved). They are ideally looking for something similar to Haslemere - a market town or a village with nice community feel and a few shops. Have been looking around the Godalming and Farnham areas so far but would be nice to hear about others!

For market towns then yes Godalming and Farnham. Alton as well which is cheaper. If they are prepared to go slightly south of Haslemere then Petersfield is an option.

If smaller community is ok with local shops what about Grayshott just up the road from Haslemere. Or Liphook just down the road.

The first three are obviously bigger, as is Petersfield. Budget could play a decisive role in this as well. There are loads of villages but lots are small and if they are trying to match the size and appeal of Haslemere then it’s those in my first paragraph. There are also villages with small selection of shops outside of Guildford with easy connections.

The main market towns are Farnham (warning traffic can be awful in certain parts), Godalming, Haslemere. Within that area are numerous stunning Surrey Hills villages, but they have less amenities, but you can easily drive to the nearby Market Towns, which is Farnham for me. Fleet is nice, but lacks the appeal of the above, but has shops, cafes etc. I live around this area and love it. I'm meeting a friend in Elstead tomorrow for a 7 mile walk and you hardly see a soul.

Fleet might work for them. There are lovely villages nearby - Church Crookham is nice, but Fleet has shops and cafes, parks etc. Farnborough is great for commuting, but there's not much in the way of independent cafes / nice shops - it's got what you need but it's not in any way picturesque.

Farnham is the obvious place if they want to be between Haslemere and Farnborough. Yes, traffic can be a problem, but every time I drive through it (as I did today) I think what a lovely town it is.

Frensham and Tilford are lovely villages in between Haslemere and Farnham, but they are perhaps too small for your parents (no shops).
Churt is also nice and does have a couple of shops.

Grayshott and Hindhead are bigger, with more shops. Of the two, I'd go for Grayshott.
