Little Aston or Barnt Green?

Moving from London with two children under 10.

Both locations work in terms of commute but what are these areas like to live in? Budget £800k. Ideally wanting detached, garden, good schools and a community

I don't know Little Aston at all.
Barnt Green is lovely.

If the commute is into the centre of Birmingham, then I would choose Barnt Green over Little Aston - traveling in from North of Sutton Coldfield would not be fun. Easier from the SW of the City, plus you also have the option of the cross City line with trains stopping in Barnt Green itself.
Obviously if it isn't into Bham, then ignore this bit.

The cross city line actually carries on past New St up to Blake St which is 2 mins from Little Aston, 25 mins or so into central Bham. Both locations are beautiful, I live near Little Aston and it is so convenient for Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield, plus Sutton Park is fab. I think there is more of a “centre” in Barnt Green though. LA is very expensive, you will just about get a detached for £800k but it won’t be huge.

We know people who live in Barnt Green and they really like living there. Has a big enough centre to have a community feel and some nice properties for 800k.

Barnt Green gets my vote. Lovely, friendly village, excellent transport links.

The primary school is fantastic, but only goes up to age 9 as it's in Worcestershire's 3 school system. After that they go to Alvechurch middle school, which I don't have any experience of yet but I think (hope!) is also good.

I don’t know Little Aston, but have family and friends in Barnt Green and it’s lovely. £800,000 might be tight though if you are wanting a decent sized detached.

I also have family in Alvechurch, which is also a nice village and you would get more for your money there.
