Buying in Acton - different areas?

Hi all, have searched previous threads but either they’re very old or don’t cover the exact areas we’re wondering about, and would love to get some local knowledge on Acton. Currently live in Hammersmith, which we love, but can’t afford to buy there. We want a 2 bed, 450-550k, no kids yet but want a baby before too long. We love the Churchfield Road area but nothing there suitable currently and generally they’re a bit small for our tastes.

Firstly, near Acton main line station - living here looks a bit rubbish as you’re far from any high street and it’s all quite industrial. This though was a nice street and you get so much more for your money - www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/62776054/?search_identifier=2cf0759aab61600df0524003ab97a7e2

secondly south Acton. Seems a bit more desirable than north since you’re close to Chiswick. But still maybe not a particularly nice area? - www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/63738325/?search_identifier=33d316f3a56319ac63aaa7455b4f7751

thanks!

I don’t know that street exactly, but would say South Acton nicer than North. Gunnersbury park is lovely. From memory, I don’t think that bit of North Acton is particularly pleasant but it has been a few years, and my memory may be wrong. I think the trade off is being on Picc line vs. Elizabeth? I would rather eat glass than use the Picc line during peak commuting hours.

we were in a similar situation about 10 years ago - liked Chiswick and Hammersmith, but priced out. We looked at Acton, but ultimately settled in Ealing - a little further out but much nicer. At the time there was a small price premium over Acton, but no idea how that has evolved.

Acton is a mixed bag. You have Poet's corner but that would probably be out of your budget. South Acton estate was (or still is) one of the most deprived areas in the UK. At the same time, you have your new builts etc.
Yes, Ealing would still be a bit premium to Acton.

This is arrant nonsense.

Thanks all. We’re looking at Ealing too though anything we like is definitely at the top end of our budget, so not sure whether we’d rather go for Acton and get slightly more for our money.
