Sharp fitted wardrobe

Hello - we had Sharps round today to do a quote for some fitted wardrobes. 3 x double fitted wardrobes with a combination of hanging space, drawers and shelves. The price quoted is just under 5k which includes installation. They did the whole thing with giving us this discount and that discount etc. pre discount price was £10k. They will hold that price for us for 7 days.

We have Hammonds coming in a few days to give us a quote also.

Has anyone had experience with either Sharps or Hammonds that they are happy to share? How was the quality of the product? And reasons for choosing one over the other.

Also does 5k seem reasonable - I've no idea if that is a good price or not.

Thank you for your help.

I had 5x double wardrobes including a shoe closet and lighting done 8 or 9 years ago. Cost £5k at the time (reduced from £10k)

I'm still pleased with them. The fitting process was very detailed and thorough. Individual pieces cut to fit perfectly. Still look good. Not cheap but good quality

No way 10K , do they really think we believe all that discount stuff? We had a bad experience with the first one.Dont know the second.Suggest you get quotes from a good carpenters instead.

Find a good local person who does the same. I bet it will be a lot cheaper!

My sister had a Sharps wardrobe fitted a couple of years ago. It’s very nice and solidly built. But I thought it was a lot - almost £3k for just one double wardrobe. I have Vestium bookmarked for when we fit out our loft conversion (myvestium on Instagram). They custom fit IKEA Pax wardrobes and seem very good value for money.

Find a local independent guy or two and get them to quote you.

We used a local place, much, much cheaper.

We have had sharps in the past and they are lovely but ridiculously expensive.
We've got a really long run in our bedroom so decided to buy ikea pax wardrobes (fully kitted out with drawers, laundry baskets, hanging, shelves, lighting) for £1.5k and then had a carpenter build them in. Super pleased with them.

I had Sharps do my fitted wardrobes a couple of years ago, very happy with the whole process and they're lovely. I wouldn't hesitate using them again.

We also brought IKEA PAX and had local joiner put fitted sliding doors on. Cost 2.5k all in

We used Hammonds, they were great ti be fair, price was about the same for a wall of wardrobes basically

We used Hammond about 8 years ago. Cost about 3K at the time. They still look great and probably one of the best investments I’ve done.

I used Spacemaker a year ago. 2 double fitted wardrobes, floor to ceiling, cost approximately £3000. Beautiful, very expertly fitted and they made optimal use of available space. Would definitely use again. (Not sure if they are nationwide though.)

I had Hammonds and Sharps out to quote at the end of January for two and a half double wardrobe run, with cupboards above up to a sloping ceiling. Hammonds were £6.5k and Sharps £5.5k.

I ended up choosing a local carpenter for £4.6k as his work is brilliant, we can have any colour and he can make exactly what we want.

Hammonds were okay but they couldn't do up to a high ceiling, don't have doors tall enough. Limited colours available. Sharps could make the inside of the wardrobe up to the ceiling but standard sized doors so we'd need a fake top wall section. Limited colours and the salesman man pulled the 'Limited managers discount only available this week' crap. Both honoured their quote for only a very few days.

The Sharps salesman also got shirty with me for not agreeing to his design and not wanting shelves inside where he wanted them!

The quote we got from Sharos (about a year ago) was also about £5k and they also did the whole "half price" discount thing which still felt very expensive. I found the salesman who came round dislikable.

I asked friends for local recommendations and found someone (who had loads of photos of examples on their fb page, and excellent reviews), and they charged less than half of Sharps. The work was excellent and we're so pleased with them.

Please get at least one local quote to compare.
